A blast in the Mazraa area of Damascus Thursday morning killed at least 40 people, including children, and wounded 237 more, the Damascus Media Office state in a statement. The blast occurred near three schools, where several deaths and injuries were reported.
The Revolutionary Military Council blamed the Syrian government for the explosion, saying the regime is experiencing the “loss of its positions one after the other.”
