Episode 3: ‘Forget your three houses in Afrin’

June 6, 2021

Haj is busy working at his barbershop in Hawler (Erbil) in Iraqi Kurdistan. But he will never forget his family’s barbershop in Afrin, the Kurdish canton in northern Syria. The barbershop in Afrin, as with the three family houses, is occupied by men affiliated with armed groups that took part in Turkey’s Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, which displaced 137,000 people. Haj’s father decided to stay behind in Afrin; he paid a high price.

This is the third episode of the short documentary series ‘Losing Home,’ a project that illustrates the pain and rage that hides behind Housing, Land and Property (HLP) violations.
