Episode 5: Dispossessed under a reconciliation agreement

June 10, 2021

Jawad left Syria in the early days of the war, but his parents and siblings stayed in their homes in Eastern Ghouta. After surviving the siege, the family was given the choice to reconcile with the regime. Due to the pain they had endured at the hands of the Syrian army, they chose not to and were displaced to Idlib. Soon after, their houses were expropriated on the grounds that they were ‘terrorists’.

This is the fifth episode of the short documentary series ‘Losing Home,’ a project that illustrates the pain and rage that hides behind Housing, Land and Property (HLP) violations.
