Episode 6: My home in Homs is occupied

June 13, 2021

Abeer was widowed in early 2011. After surviving six months under siege in Homs, she fled with her six children to Jordan, where she has found stability.

A family supporting the Syrian government has occupied her house in Homs. Even though the house is officially registered in her and her children’s name, Abeer says she stands no chance of reclaiming her right; she has heard many times that those who fled Syria are considered traitors, and have no right to go back and reclaim their property.

This is the sixth and final episode of the short documentary series ‘Losing Home,’ a project that illustrates the pain and rage that hides behind Housing, Land and Property (HLP) violations.
