On Thursday, Syria Direct reporter Ammar Hamou was conducting an interview via Facebook with an activist in East Ghouta who requested anonymity. After the first question, the interview abruptly paused, as reflected in the transcript and photographs below.

Ammar Hamou: “Who is in charge of the journalist union’s legal affairs?”

[Hour break with no answer.]

AH: “Where did you go???”

AH: “God is great.”

AH: “Did something happen to you?”

Activist: “It happened while you were talking to me.”

Activist: “The store.”

Activist: “An airstrike hit us.”
