Israel shelled a Syrian army post near Beerajam on Wednesday, immediately after the regime’s army shells landed in the occupied Golan Heights.
The Israeli fire “resulted from the regime’s random bombardment of bordering Golan villages, so Israeli occupying forces responded,” said Omar Golani, a spokesman for the Golan Media Center, a network of local activists.
Syrian forces have “imposed a daily curfew in Quneitra province and regularly bomb Beerajam” in an effort to regain controld of it, Golani said.
An Israeli tank destroyed the army post, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an account confirmed by the Israeli daily Maariv.
At least one mortar shell fell in Tel Faris on the occupied Israeli side, the opposition media agency Sana Thawra reported.
