Jabhat a-Nusra ‘emir’ agrees to merger with al-Qaeda in Iraq

In this tape Abo Muhammad al-Jolani, the head of Jabhat a-Nusra, declares fealty to the Iraqi al-Qaeda organization. On Tuesday a tape was released claiming the group, designated by Washington as a terrorist organization, was al-Qaeda branch in Syria. 

Previewing a future of Sharia legislation, Jolani declared,  “We have announced from the beginning, we want to make God ‘s law in these lands. Our duties towards the people are to secure their main needs; and then we gain their support.”
