DOWNED DRONE: Liwa al-Islam, or Brigade of the Islam, shows on Wednesday what it says is a reconnaissance drone (model 623P) that its so-called “electronic army” forced down in East Ghouta, the agricultural belt to the east of Damascus. The brigade jammed the plane’s signal, forcing it to open its parachute and crash land, during which the wing was damaged.
The Brigade of Islam spokesman says the group will repair the wing and re-use the plane, which features two cameras that can capture images with high accuracy and clarity up to 3 kilometers away and fly for 16 continuous hours. Video courtesy of Liwa al-Islam
