WEAPONS CACHE: Free Syrian Army and Jabhat a-Nusra fighters continued to advance in Daraa Tuesday, destroying a regime checkpoint in the provincial capital of Daraa and launching an offensive in the city’s Al-Manshiyyeh district, one day after seizing a cache of government weapons when it captured a government army base at Boser al-Harir.

The Ahfad al-Rasoul brigade uploaded a video to their YouTube channel on Monday saying they had confiscated significant quantities of weapons and ammunitions from the Syrian army base, which lies 25km from the Jordanian border.

The base at Boser al Harir, near the town of Azra’ in Daraa, fell after several days of fighting.

The government responded Tuesday by launching rockets on the nearby town of al-Shajara, resulting in a number of injuries among civilians, the pro-opposition Local Coordination Committee reported.

The state news agency SANA avoided mention of Boser al Harir’s capture, only reporting “a unit of the armed forces killed 3 terrorists, one of them a sniper, during an attempt to sneak into al-Manshiyeh neighborhood in Daraa city.”
