MOVING DAY: Jabhat a-Nusra moves a large column of armored vehicles through Idlib province this week under the caption “men of belief in the unity of God, and of doctrine, in the land of Islam.” The picture was circulated by an official Nusra Twitter account Tuesday.

Hisham al-Abdullah, a correspondent with Sham News Network in Idlib province, confirmed that the picture was authentic in an interview with Syria Direct Tuesday. The area depicted is Khan a-Subul, al-Abdullah says, the former headquarters of the US-backed Harakat Hazm movement that was also ousted by Nusra in late October/early November.

As Nusra rolls armored columns through southern Idlib, negotiations are underway to end hostilities in the area between what remains of the SRF and Harakat Hazm on one side, and Nusra and Jund al-Aqsa on the other.

The two parties signed a reconciliation agreement Monday under the sponsorship of Islamist brigade Ahrar a-Sham and the supervision of the Sharia Court in the southern Idlib countryside, reported Jordanian daily A-Sabeel.

The agreement stipulates an immediate ceasefire between the two parties and a mutual release of prisoners who are to be handed over to the Sharia Court.

The reconciliation agreement also calls for Ahrar a-Sham to send forces to southern Idlib in order to maintain peace.

Photos of checkpoints erected by Ahrar a-Sham’s peacekeeping force were published by news website Lebwindow Monday.
