Militiamen with the pro-regime National Defense Forces (NDF) hurled insults at Syrian army soldiers retreating from losses in Sahel al-Ghab in a video uploaded to YouTube on Monday.

“Hand over the RPG rounds, what are they doing with you, why didn’t you get five insurgents with them?” the cameraman shouted to a retreating soldier.

The rebel Victory Army forced regime soldiers to retreat towards the Alawite village of Jourin in west Hama province after taking a series of villages in the Sahel al-Ghab plains region in recent days.

Jourin sits on the western edge of the Sahel al-Ghab plain linking Hama and the Syrian coast.

The cameraman and his colleagues, also in NDF, or shabiha, took the weapons of retreating soldiers while directing those who wanted to continue to fight to head to the local military base.

“Where are your officers? We want to see them,” the cameraman continued mockingly, mentioning that the video was intended for social media.

“Curse the religion of your mother,” another militiamen shouted at a soldier.

The retreating soldiers largely remained silent as they walked passed the base near Jourin, but one responded by saying: “We’re not looking to relax – let us go to the base.”
