TOP 5 EVENTS OF THE SYRIAN REVOLUTION, #4: The Syrian government launched its military operation to suppress protests as early as April 2011 when they deployed their army to Daraa.

The Free Syrian Army launched a military operation against regime military elements in the city of Homs in July 2011. By the end of November, the FSA had gained control over several parts of the city, with its base in the neighborhood of Babal Amr. In February 2012, the Syrian government launched an offensive against the FSA and forced them and the civilians to evacuate the neighborhood by the following month. The government regained control of 75% of the city by October 2012. The results of this campaign are shown in this street video in downtown Homs. Video courtesy of kooooke11 YouTube channel
