Government troops conducted a violent sweep through the town Sanameen on the Old Damascus Highway in Daraa province resulting in a conflicting number of civilian casualties.
Local activists have published the names of 42 people killed by shelling on the town while the London Based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says 12 were killed in bombardment by government troops.
The Observatory reports the detention of several Sanameen residents and the Local Coordination Committee reports a “heavy displacement” of the town’s civilians.
There are simultaneous reports of similar detentions and civilian deaths in the nearby town of al-Nameer west of Senameen.
